Cookie policy
REMOVE THIS BOX BEFORE PUBLISHING. This page is accurate for the site exactly as built. The moment you add analytics, a chat widget, an embedded video, a booking tool, a form service or a font CDN, it stops being accurate and you will likely need a consent banner. Rewrite it then.
The short version
This website sets no cookies. Not strictly necessary ones, not functional ones, not analytics, not advertising. It writes nothing to local storage, session storage or IndexedDB, and it uses no fingerprinting, tracking pixels or beacons.
It also makes no third-party requests whatsoever. Everything the page needs, including the typefaces, is served from this domain.
There is nothing to accept, nothing to reject and nothing to manage, which is why you did not see a consent banner when you arrived.
What a cookie is, for context
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so the site can recognise your browser on a later request. Cookies are what keep you logged in, remember a shopping cart, or let an advertising network follow you between sites.
This site does none of those things. It is a set of static pages with no login, no cart and no advertising, so it has no reason to remember you between visits.
No third parties at all
Many otherwise simple sites leak visitor data through things the owner never thinks of as tracking: Google Fonts, an embedded map, a YouTube player, a scheduling widget, a CDN-hosted JavaScript library. Each one tells a third party that you visited.
This site has none of them. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn insight tag, no YouTube or Vimeo embeds, no Google Maps, no Calendly, no live chat, no hosted form service, and no external font or script host. The three typefaces are open-licensed and served as files from this domain.
Why there is no consent banner
Cookie consent requirements attach to storing or accessing information on your device, or to tracking you. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, consent is required before setting non-essential cookies. Under California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and similar state laws, the obligations attach to selling personal information, sharing it for targeted advertising, or profiling, and most of those laws also carry revenue or data-volume thresholds that a one-person consultancy does not meet. Pennsylvania has no comprehensive consumer privacy statute as at the date above.
This site stores nothing on your device, tracks nothing, sells nothing and shares nothing for advertising. On that basis no consent mechanism is required. A banner here would be theatre: it would ask you to consent to something that is not happening.
Server logs are not cookies
Cloudflare, which hosts this site, keeps standard logs of requests including IP addresses. That happens at the server, not on your device, and is not cookie activity. It is described in section 3 of the privacy policy.
How to check this for yourself
You do not have to take my word for it. Open your browser's developer tools, go to the Application or Storage tab, and look at Cookies and Local Storage for this domain. Both should be empty. The Network tab will show you every request the page made, and every one of them should point at this domain and nowhere else.
Tools I build for clients
This policy covers this website. Tools I build for a client are separate software, and whether they use cookies or local storage depends on what that tool has to do. Any such behaviour is documented in the engagement and in the tool itself, and the client is responsible for the consent and disclosure obligations on their own site.
If this changes
If I ever add something that sets cookies or tracks visitors, I will update this page and add a proper consent mechanism before that feature goes live, not afterwards. Questions: jaydixit@dixitjay.com.
